Chon Mancilla Exhibits Photos of the Old San Luis

San Luis de la Paz, Gto. Sunday, April 22, 2012.  J. Ascension Mancilla Martinez presented 20 photos of his collection "The Old San Luis" next to the fountain of the Main Garden, as part of the celebration of the 117 Anniversary of the Elevation to City of San Luis de la Paz, organized by the Ludovicense Cultural Center.  Through them, the Ludovicenses who showed up to admire them, recalled or realized how it was our city in the past.

Chon Mancilla, who is from San Luis de la Paz, has 40 years collecting photographs of the municipality.  His compilation sums up around 380 images.  It includes pictures of temples, streets and other public places.  Since his great grandfather gave him an old portrait, his interest in rescuing photos from yesterday began.  The oldest one that he owns dates back to 1874.
