Construction Workers Celebrate the Day of the Holy Cross

San Luis de la Paz, Gto. Thursday, May 3, 2012.  Today, the construction workers stopped their labor to celebrate the Day of the Holy Cross.  They put aside the shovels and the concrete mix, to take a cross adorned with flowers and pilgrim at noon, from the Del Bosque neighborhood to the Shrine of Guadalupe.  After the Holy Mass, they had plans to go to their workplace, to place the blessed cross at the highest point, and have a feast with their friends.

Before 11:00 a.m., under a hot and humid weather, the constructors of San Luis de la Paz began to meet with their families at the corner of Walter Buchanan and Real del Monte.  They had with them large and small crosses, of all colors and even unpainted, adorned with flowers.

At 12:28 p.m. began the procession.  Besides the hundreds of workers, other participants were: musicians, war bands (from the schools Vanguardia, Cecyteg, Nicolas Bravo, and San Francisco), as well as flag bearers (from the Miguel Hidalgo and the Cecyteg schools).  The route was Walter Buchanan, Ninos Heroes, the Main Garden, Mina, Guerrero, Matamoros, Jimenez, and Allende to reach the Sanctuary of Guadalupe.
